To save you looking here is an example of one of them...

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.6.4.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/mobile/1.0/jquery.mobile-1.0.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="scripts/controller.js"></script>

Would it be acceptable for these files to *not* have licence headers in them?

These are the minified versions. It does not make sense to have an verbose license header in there. Looking at the first file, it shows me: /*! jQuery v1.6.4 http://jquery.com/ | http://jquery.org/license */

For me this is enough. If possible, apache minified js could have something similar.

/*! Wookie v1.0.0 http://incubator.apache.org/wookie | http://apache.org/licenses */

Cheers
